The Jesolo shopping center designed by Zaha Hadid - "Jesolo Magica"
Jesolo Magica, Zaha Hadid's project for our magnificent Jesolo
Zaha Hadid's last project, the world-renowned architect who has died suddenly thee months ago, is currently under construction in Italy.
Born in Iraq and moved to London to pursue her studies at the Architectural Association, she created her own studio 'Zaha Hadid Architects', with 246 employees.
She was the first woman ever to win the Pritzker and the Stirling Prize for Architecture, as well as other prestigious competitions. Her architecture has been shown in exhibitions worldwide and many of her works are held in important museum collections. Known as an architect who consistently pushes the boundaries of the architecture and urban design, her work experiments with new spatial concepts intensifying exsisting urban landscapes and encopassing all fields of design. Her creations are featured by smooth and flowing lines that blend with the surrondings, creating a perfect harmony between nature and architecture, from the Galaxy Soho in Beijing, to the Heydar Alivey Center in Azerbaijan, from the Serpentine Sackler Gallery at the Maxxi in Rome.
The work of Jesolo Magica will soon begin
Her latest project, now close to its realisation, is the new shopping center that will be built in Jesolo and will need 24 months to be completed. The snow-white structure dotted with portholes, has already been dubbed "the spaceship" and has already won two awards, even before its realisation, as the best architectural and best project for tourism improvement. Developped along an area of 38,000 square meters, it has been built to create a "city within a city" and you will find shops, cinema, spa, hotel, restaurants and much more.
It will offer outdoor and indoor public spaces to become the new meeting point for daily and nightly life of the city. There will be 7000 square meters of terraces, a huge gallery for events, exhibition and performances and resting areas. From the wide central part, two streamlined arms will join the other trade center forming a covered area by a glass and cement skylight, two elements very often used in her reaisations.
It won't be only a shopping and business center, but a real architectural and modern structure that will become the heart of the Venetian coast.
