A Made in Italy Skyscraper in Dubai
A Made in Italy Skyscraper in Dubai
It has become common knowledge that the phrase “city of the future” belongs to Dubai.
With its futuristic buildings and breathtaking hotels, it is the design and innovation capital, and the new “Da Vinci Tower” designed by the Florentine architect David Fisher is an emblematic example.
The "da Vince Tower", dynamic and ecologiacal
Already nicknamed “the dynamic tower,” this residential, 313-meter high skyscraper with 68 floors can rotate 360°. It is surely not the first building in Dubai to hold this characteristic, yet differently than those already built, each floor will be able to rotate independently around a central pivot.
The rotation will be set at a speed that does not bother the inhabitants, who will be able to choose which view and lighting they prefer each day. Beyond design and engineering, the Da Vinci Tower has also been conceived with an ecological perspective. In fact, eight wind turbines support the rotation of the floors, supplying enough energy for the 200 apartments expected in the building. Moreover, the design team has proposed a unique construction method. Ninety percent of the skyscraper will be built in a factory as separate modules that will then be assembled on site.
The construction process should last a couple of years, but it will be well worth the wait. To have breakfast watching the sunrise and then watch the sunset through the very same window will be a luxury that few people will want to do without.
