Here are the steps recommended for installing Bordertec drip profiles for terraces:
1. Apply a waterproofing layer (liquid or sheet membrane) on the substrate; (take a look at the different types of waterproofing to find out more).
2. Adhere the profile with thinset, allowing about 1 cm between the profile and the front of the substrate.
3. In order to prevent water infiltration from entering under the profile, seal the perforated portion of the profile with Foiltec waterproofing strips.
4. Proceed with the tile installation:
- BBS/BCS profile: leave the space of one grout joint between the end of the Border profile and the first tile row. Subsequently seal the gap with a flexible sealant.
- BBO/BCO profile: leave the necessary space for the drainage holes and then seal with a permeable sealant. In corner joints or linear joints, leave about 2 cm between the joints to allow the aluminum to expand. (A cover profile will hide the gap).

Choosing between a head with a 2mm (SUPA2) or a 4mm (SUPA4) gap is mainly aesthetically driven (taking into consideration that in outdoor installations a wider joint between the tiles is not as evident as in indoor installations). The advantage of using a head with a 4mm gap is being able to do the final height adjustments using the SUPAK tool, even after the floor is installed, without having to remove any pieces. In addition, the 4mm head can also be used with installations containing aluminum joists.

Ceramic tiles with a thickness of 2cm are most commonly used outdoors, especially in floating floor installations. When installing a floor supported by pedestals, however, the floor covering can be thicker or of other materials, such as stone, marble, etc. We recommend always respecting the maximum load capacity of 14kN per pedestal and maintaining a maximum distance of 60 cm between pedestals.

The tiles will, in any case, sit higher than the stainless steel profile (its height is fixed), but you can compensate the level difference by beveling the edge of the tile to match the level of the Multidrain channel.
