In humid environments we recommend using our profiles in AISI 316 stainless steel, which offers greater resistance to corrosion.

The best and safest material is plastic. Metal profiles (aluminum / steel) could be damaged by cleaning substances (chlorine / salts) used in pools. Even though AISI 316 stainless steel presents greater resistance to corrosion than AISI 304 stainless steel, it cannot guarantee complete resistance.

In the seaside (in which the air has a high salt and sand content) we always recommend using AISI 316 stainless steel. If possible, in areas that are protected or not extreme, we recommend using polished stainless steel. Brushed and sanded finishes, with a surface that is not homogenous, could allow the infiltration of particles which could cause oxidation, more evident than in polished stainless steel.

The wall and floor profiles which are most suitable for saline environments are those in AISI 316 stainless steel. They offer the best resistance to oxidation and corrosion. Particular attention, on the other hand, must be given to profiles in contact with substances which contain chlorine, given that they could cause contamination. We recommend contacting Profilitec to evaluate each situation specifically.

For settings in which the use of products with high performance is requsted, we recommend using profiles in stainless steel (AISI 316 or AISI 304) which meet required health regulations.

Stainless steel profiles are normally used in the presence of sulphur, in settings with high evaporation of water and salt (industrial kitchens), in marine or costal areas, in thermal areas, and in settings with high salt content (cheese factories, slaughterhouses, butcher shops and some food industries).
